LOCATIONS FOR OUR SEPTEMBER 2021-MAY 2022 MEETINGS WILL BE COMMUNICATED TO

OUR MEMBERS THROUGH OUR NEWSLETTERS DUE TO COVID 19 ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS.

Our meetings at the church location may not occur, so please contact us before coming.

The location of most of our Monday meetings is at the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange,

150 S. Ashland, La Grange in the basement Fellowship Hall, unless otherwise noted.

(Please enter directly from the parking lot entrance into the basement area. )

Due to Covid issues we are sorry but are temporarily limiting attendance to our members.

During regular times, our Hospitality & Social Hour begins at 12:15 pm with coffee, savory & sweet treats. Currently we are not offering any refreshments due to Covid 19 but will keep our site updated.

Our Business Meeting begins at 1:00 pm, followed by a speaker or special program.

SEPTEMBER

September 13, 2021

Social & Hospitality Hour: 12:15 p.m. Enjoy catching up with garden club friends!

Meeting: 1:00 p.m. under our outside big tent at the Vial House/La Grange Historical Society.

Program: After our business meeting and committee updates for the coming season we will

proceed to a local garden for a tour with the owner.


September - Community Service Project - SPORTS BALL CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19 CONCERNS

Members will make Sports Ball centerpieces for Aging Care Connections fundraiser.

Aging Care provides social services to senior citizens. Direction and materials will be provided by the club.


Sept. 17 – District II Presidents Forum meeting on Zoom.

October 4, 2021 - yearly evening meeting - THIS WILL BE A MEMBER INVITATION MEETING

Location: First Presbyterian Church of LG, 150 S. Ashland, La Grange

Fellowship Hall (basement entrance off the parking lot)

Social Hour: 6:15 p.m. Meeting & Program: 7:00 p.m.

Program: Beth Botts, garden writer & author presents 'Growing Green in a Changing Climate',

Advice on how to create a sustainable garden in a changing world.

COVID 19 restrictions apply: Masks must be worn at all time and social distancing.


October Community Service Projects:

-La Grange Post Office: Members do a Fall garden cleanup.

-Windsor Place Retirement Center: Members arrange fall decorations in outdoor containers.

Program: Kim White, master naturalist, Du Page County Forest Preserve Co-Stewart and avid gardener.

Biomimicry: Science and Technology Looking to Nature to Solve Today's Problems.


LATE NOVEMBER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS:

-Post Office: Members decorate the containers with evergreens and holiday winter decorations

-Windsor Place Retirement: Members add evergreens and holiday decorations

LGGC MEMBER CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON - Prior signup and payment required with our Social/Hospitality Chairperson Helen to be able to attend. Location: The Elm in La Grange. Members only event.

Luncheon Program: Maria Hooper, owner of Maria's Floral Studio in La Grange

will delight us with her holiday floral demonstration. Arrangements will be raffled.

Note: As part of our Community Service, members are asked to bring children's unwrapped, new toys

and books for the La Grange Rotary Club's "Secret Santa" program. Financial Donations are also welcome.

Ways & Means - CLUB FUNDRAISER

Members & Friends Annual PLANT CATALOG orders and payments are due at this meeting.

All Members are expected to participate and help on our fundraiser by ordering plants themselves and

asking friends & family. Everyone also works to sort plants and fill orders (sorry, no internet orders).

APRIL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS:

-Members clean up our garden at the La Grange Post Office.

Earth Day April 22 ----- Arbor Day April 29

April 25 – Garden Clubs of IL. Annual Convention & Luncheon - Doubletree Hotel, Lisle

CELEBRATING ARBOR DAY: Our Club donates a tree to a local community location

to celebrate Arbor Day. Recently we donated a tree to Gilbert Park.

MAY, 2021

May 2, 2021 - Annual Meeting

Program: Angelica Carmen, Sustainability Specialist at Cog Hill Golf Club will talk about all the ways

Cog Hill is sustainable, including their Fairway Farms produce.


Thursday, May 12 - CATALOG ANNUALS DELIVERED! Nursery suppliers deliver pre-ordered plants.

Members & friends are asked to pick up any plants they ordered at times and locations specified.

Club Members are asked to volunteer to help unload the truck & sort plant orders.

We enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch as a group. Questions can be directed to our club co-president, Jan.

May Community Service Projects:

-Plant the La Grange Business District: Members, along with help from the La Grange Public Works Department, plant approximately 80 containers with summer plants before Memorial Day.

Working with the Village to help beautify our community is a joy!

-La Grange Post Office: Members plant the containers and continue summer maintenance for the garden.

-Windsor Place Retirement Home: Members plants containers with summer plants.

TO MAKE SMALL FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR TWO LOCAL RETIREMENT AND NURSING HOMES.

MEMBERS USE THIS AS A WAY TO KEEP IN TOUCH DURING THE SUMMER AND DISCUSS THEIR GARDENS!
