During this time members check in, sign up for upcoming events listed, and enjoy socializing.
Our Business Meeting begins at 1:00 pm, followed by a speaker or special program.

September 8
12:30 p.m. MEMBER PLANT EXCHANGE!
As a member, if you'd like to participate please bring one perennial plant with it's name, color, light and growing information, taped to the container, along with the name of person donating. We will do the exchange before our meeting begins. Questions, ask our co-president Cindy Lefley.
Social & Hospitality Hour: 12:15 p.m. Enjoy catching up with garden club friends!
Meeting: 1:00 p.m.
Program: After our business meeting and committee updates for the coming season we will proceed to a local garden for a tour with the owner.
SEPTEMBER 14 - Community Service Project - La Grange Historical Society's Home & History Tour
Members volunteer to be docents at one of our own Member's Home on the Tour.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2025 - Community Service Project -
Members will make Sports Ball floral centerpieces for Aging Care Connections fundraiser.
Aging Care provides social services to senior citizens. Direction and materials will be provided by the club.
Sept. 19 – District II Presidents Forum meeting.

Program: Member Anne-Marie: History, Culture and Growing of Tulips
The presentation traces the plant's arrival in Holland in the late 1500's from the Sultan's palace in Turkey. They became a major part of Butch culture and economic identity. Photo slide show.
October Community Service Projects:
-La Grange Post Office: Members do a Fall garden cleanup.
-Windsor Place Retirement Center: Members arrange fall decorations in outdoor containers.

Members signup for the Christmas Luncheon at Ruth Lake by November 15.Donna Hirsch, Master Gardener, University of Illinois Extension Program Speaker Bureau traces the entire lifespan of swallowtail butterflies from fertilization, egg laying, chrysalis, emergence and flight. Donna also explains how you can do this too!
LATE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS:
-Post Office: Members decorate the containers with evergreens and holiday winter decorations
-Windsor Place Retirement & Historical Society at the Vial House:
Members will add evergreens and holiday decorations to outdoor containers. We also create a holiday table arrangement for raffle during the holiday open house at the Historical Society.

LGGC MEMBER CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON - Prior signup and payment required with our Social/Hospitality Chairperson Marge to be able to attend. Location: Ruth Lake Country Club. Members only event.
Luncheon Program: A member of Heritage House Florist in Downers Grove will demonstrate making holiday arrangements. Arrangements will be raffled.
Note: As part of our Community Service, members are asked to bring children's unwrapped, new toys and books for the La Grange Rotary Club's "Secret Santa" program. Financial Donations are also welcome.

Ways & Means - CLUB FUNDRAISER
Members & Friends Annual PLANT CATALOG orders and payments
are due at this April 6 meeting.
All Members are expected to participate and help on our fundraiser by ordering plants themselves and asking friends & family. Everyone also works to sort plants and fill orders (sorry, no internet orders).
April 6
Program: Bob Zeni: Tomato Growing
Presentation will discuss best planting practices, identify various parts of the plant with several tabletop varieties to show.
APRIL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:
-Members clean up our garden at the La Grange Post Office.
April 16 - 6:30 pm - Member Workshop: Moss-covered container with a spring plant and a bunny!
April 26 – Garden Clubs of IL. Annual Convention & Luncheon -

CELEBRATING ARBOR DAY: Our Club will celebrate by donating a tree planted by our Village Public Works at a local school with a short ceremony.

Program: Catherine Bryla: Native Plants for a Traditional Landscape. Presentation will discuss how to select native plants to compliment your space and style.
May 5 at 6:30 pm Member Workshop: Air Dry Clay Frogs
Thursday, May 14 - CATALOG ANNUALS DELIVERED!
Nursery suppliers deliver pre-ordered plants.
Members & friends are asked to pick up any plants they ordered at times and locations specified.
Club Members volunteer to help unload the truck & sort plant orders.
We enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch as a group. Questions can be directed to our club co-president, Jan McFarland.
May Community Service Projects:
*May 20: Plant the La Grange Business District: Members, along with help from the La Grange Public Works Department, plant approximately 80 containers with summer plants before Memorial Day. A member of the club designs the planters.
Working with the Village to help beautify our community is a joy!
*La Grange Post Office: Members plant the containers and continue summer maintenance for the garden.
*Windsor Place Retirement Home: Members plants containers with summer plants.
