LOCATIONS FOR OUR SEPTEMBER 2020-MAY 2021 MEETINGS WILL BE COMMUNICATED 
TO OUR MEMBERS THROUGH OUR NEWSLETTERS DUE TO COVID 19 ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS. 

Our meetings at the church location are temporarily on hold:
The location of our Monday meetings is at the First Presbyterian Church 
of La Grange, 150 S. Ashland, La Grange in the basement Fellowship Hall, unless otherwise noted.
Please enter directly from the parking lot entrance into the basement area. )

Our Hospitality & Social Hour begins at 12:15 pm with coffee, appetizers & sweet treats.
Our Business Meeting begins at 1:00 pm, followed by a speaker or special program.

Normally we would love to have guests join us to see if they might be interested in membership, 
but during this time of COVID 19 our meetings will not be open to the public. We will post changes here.
Our members have a lot to offer and share in responsibilities to make us a success!

September 14, 2020
Social Hour:     12:15 p.m.
Enjoy catching up with garden club friends!
Meeting:              1:00 p.m. under our outside tent at the Vial House/La Grange Historical Society 
Program:   After our business meeting we will break into small groups of 10 to visit inside for
the Historical Society’s wonderful exhibit Remarkable Women of the La Grange Area. 
COVID 19 restrictions apply: Masks must be worn at all time and social distancing.

Community Service Projects:

-September - La Grange Post Office:  Members do a Fall garden cleanup.


-October - Windsor Place Retirement Center: Members arrange fall decorations in their outdoor containers.  



October 5, 2020 - yearly evening meeting - WILL BE A MEMBER INVITATION ZOOM MEETING 
Meeting:        6:45 p.m.

Program: Heather Prince, Horticulturist presents Rain Gardens 101.
Learn about the different types of rain gardens, engineering basics, and get a viable plant list.
Help your flooded yards with a good design plan.


November 2, 2020 - This will be a member invitation Zoom Meeting.
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.

Program: Marianna Spyropoulos from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District will talk
about how the MWRD works and affects our water, and the importance of trees in water conservation.


December 7, 2020 -  This will be a member invitation zoom meeting since our restaurant Christmas Luncheon was cancelled 
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.  

Program:  Peggy Gavin, floral designer and owner of Gavin Gardens will do a floral design presentation for the holidays.  
As part of our Community Service members are asked to donate new unwrapped toys and books for Pillars Secret Santa program. Financial donations are also welcome. Donations can be dropped off at Jan McFarland's.

February 01, 2021 - This will be a member invitation zoom meeting 
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.
Program:   Lisa Hilgenberg, a horticulturist for the Chicago Botanic Garden will talk about the care of roses including planting, pruning and choosing the best roses for your garden,


March 01, 2021 - This will be a member invitation zoom meeting
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.
Program: Kathy and Bob Andrini will present Amazing Birds, stories, facts and behaviors of birds.

March 19 - 9:30 a.m. District II Annual Meeting & Luncheon  CANCELLED


Easter April 4 -----     Earth Day April 22 -----  Arbor Day April 30

April 5, 2021 - This will be a member invitation zoom meeting, unless otherwise noted.
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.
Program:  Beth Botts is a Master Gardener, garden writer for the Chicago Tribune and many garden publications, and also an author.  Beth will tell us how and when to divide perennials in her Divide and Multiply program.

Ways & Means - CLUB FUNDRAISER 
Members & Friends Annual PLANT CATALOG orders and payments are due at this meeting.
All Members are expected to participate and help on our fundraiser by ordering plants themselves and 
asking friends & family.  (sorry, no internet orders)

CELEBRATING ARBOR DAY:  Our Club donates a tree to a local community organization 
to celebrate Arbor Day.  Recently we donated a tree to Gilbert Park. 

April 19 - Garden Clubs of Illinois Annual Convention  - CANCELLED
Location:  Double Tree Hilton, Lisle


May 3 - 
Meeting:  1:00 p.m.
Program: Laura Christensen, Landscape designer and landscape architect, will present A Landscape Love Affair-a 30-year Relationship with My Garden.  Laura shares years of gardening tips, triumphs, minor tragedies, and joys that transformed her area.

Thursday, May  13  - Nursery suppliers deliver pre-ordered plants.
Members & friends are asked to pick up any plants they ordered at times and locations specified.
Club Members are asked to volunteer to help unload the truck & sort plant orders.
We enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch as a group. Questions can be directed to our club president, Jan.
 
 
May 26 & 27- Member Community Service Project -
Members, along with help from the La Grange Public Works Department, plant the La Grange Business
 district's summer plant containers during the week before Memorial Day. 
Working with the Village to help beautify our community is a joy!

We also plant the containers at the Post Office and maintain a small garden that we planted, as well as
Brainard Avenue War Memorials, and planters at Windsor Place Retirement Home.

June 7 - Club Member's Annual Luncheon and Trip
Location: Blumen Gardens, Sycamore.  Details will be provided to club members.

National Garden Week: June 6-12, 2021


July 19 - Garden Clubs of Illinois Summer Meeting
Location:  I-Hotel Champaign Urbana, IL

FOR "FLOWER GUILD" TO MAKE SMALL FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
FOR TWO LOCAL RETIREMENT AND NURSING HOMES. 
MEMBERS ALSO USE THIS AS A WAY TO KEEP IN TOUCH DURING 
THE SUMMER AND DISCUSS THEIR GARDENS!

SUMMER - GARDEN CLUB MEMBERS TAKE A BREAK FROM OUR REGULAR
